    Bengal: The Ghost-Brahman
     
  • There was a poor Brahman who found it hard to get married He would beg rich people for money so that he could get a wife He would need to give a large sum of money to the parents of the bride
  • He finally got enough money that he needed to find a wife
  • He got a wife and took his wife home to his mother
  • He did not have enough money to support his mom and his wife
  • He went to other countries to find money
  • He gave his remaining money to his mom and left
  • While he was traveling, a ghost took his appearance and entered the home of his mother and wife
  • The wife was confused and asked him how he got home so soon
  • The ghost convinced the mother and wife that he was the Brahman and he lived in the home with them
  • The ghost lived there for years and had everyone convinced he was the real man
  • Finally, after years the Brahman returned and was shocked when he walked in and found the ghost
  • The ghost started questioning him and being rude to the real Brahman
  • The ghost made the Brahman leave his own home
  • He had no idea what to do so he went to the king
  • The king could not tell who was the real one
  • The king kept telling the Brahman to come back the next day because he did not know what to do
  • The Brahman started going to a spot everyday where there was cowboys and cows
  • The king Cowboy wondered why the Brahman was so sad everyday
  • The cowboy king told the Brahman he would give him his rights back
  • The cowboy says whoever can enter the phial, is the owner
  • The ghost turned into an insect and got trapped in the phial
  • The Brahman threw the phial into the sea
  • He then lived happily ever after with his mom and wife
